Why Multi-Denominational?

Chicago Jewish Day School is a true multi-denominational community where students from different Jewish backgrounds, beliefs, and practices are not only welcomed but celebrated.

At Chicago Jewish Day School, we have a commitment to building a Jewish identity that includes room for difference while at the same time recognizing that as Jews, regardless of practice, there is much that connects us, allowing for a sense of unity in our community. Unity is not predicated on sameness. Our students learn that diversity is consistent with our Jewish culture and history. Multi-denominationalism is not merely tolerance or acceptance of differences, but rather it is the energetic engagement to explore and understand those differences. Such exploration only serves to further our own personal understanding of our different religious choices.
