Holidays and School Traditions

Joyful Judaism

Jewish learning and living are intertwined into the daily learning and activities at Chicago Jewish Day School. Our many Jewish holiday celebrations and traditions elevate the soulful journey of what it is to be a CJDS student. We are brought together as an even stronger community through these shared experiences with each other - families dancing together at the annual Hanukkah party; cheering on our Grade 8 students at Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Independence Day) as they perform the Daglanut (flag) Ceremony; students from all grades walking hand in hand around the Torah at Simchat Torah; learning about the seven species of Tu BiShvat before holding a class seder, and countless other experiences.
