We were honored to welcome CJDS Grandparent Etty Dolgin, Director of Education at Moadon Kol Chadash, along with her family at today's Kabbalat Shabbat.

On Monday morning, we had the honor of hosting a very special guest: Israel's most decorated judoka and two-time Olympic medalist, Peter Paltchik! Paltchik, who earned medals in both the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games, was selected to carry the Israeli flag at the 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony—an immense honor he accepted even in the face of unprecedented threats as the most targeted athlete in the Israeli delegation.

Peter first stopped by the Kindergarten classroom to introduce himself and show them his Olympic medal, which students found absolutely fascinating. Afterward, Paltchik spoke openly to students in Grades 1-8 in the Beit Midrash about the importance of courage, determination, and resilience, especially in moments when we may not feel at our strongest. He shared stories from his athletic journey, describing the discipline, mindset, and support systems that helped him rise to the top of his sport.

Our students were deeply engaged, asking thoughtful questions about his training, the obstacles he faced, and what it truly means to overcome challenges. Paltchik’s message -that perseverance and belief in oneself can carry us through even in the toughest moments - was an inspiring reminder for us all.
