- Tikkun Olam
On Tuesday, Grade 6 students volunteered at nearby Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit organization that provides children living in homeless or low-income situations with new and gently used clothing. The visit connected to a Tikkun Olam unit that students in Hebrew Teacher Nitsan Heimer's class have been studying. Students initiated and planned the project, discussing the power that they have to make an impact - all in Hebrew! When they decided to volunteer at Cradles to Crayons, the class invited the entire Grade 6 to join them, including Middle School Teachers Julia Grinberg and Kate Schulte and the shinshinim Uri and Ahinoam. While there, students divided into stations and checked and sorted clothing and shoes.
Tuesday, March 18th, was also Israeli Good Deeds Day, and the students were happy to participate in it in their own way, bringing the lessons about Chesed and Tikkun Olam into real action in the community!
