CJDS Parent, Captain Scott Friedland, received the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award in Washington, D.C. Among his many accomplishments as a military intelligence officer, Scott ensured the protection of U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq. Scott's commanding officer recommended him for the award, commenting that his "ability to lead, mentor, train, and develop our Hoosier Guardsman has been unrivaled."
Chief of Staff of the Army, General Randy A. George, presented Scott with the award and remarked that out of 27,000 officers eligible to receive this award, it was only given to 27. Less than 1%!
On Tuesday, in connection to Veteran's Day, Scott spoke to Kindergarten and Grade 1 students about his job in the military and took the time to answer their thoughtful questions. We are proud to know Captain Friedland and to count him and his wife, Leah, among our CJDS parent community.
