Our very own Rachel Pickus, Director of Middle School, was accepted into Civic Spirit's Educators Cohort fellowship in civic education, joining a group of 22 educators from 15 schools and organizations. In August, the program launched with a Summer Institute and fellows participated in scholar-led seminars on pivotal American texts, pedagogy workshops led by New York Historical and Civic Spirit educators, and gained new skills for facilitating dialogue on divisive topics. Rachel will take part in learning opportunities throughout the year with the organization, and we are excited to see how new civic learning will be incorporated into our school community.
