It was an honor to march in the Chicago Pride Parade this June!
Mazel Tov to the CJDS Class of 2023/5783. We are so proud of you!
Todah rabah to Grade 8 for the beautiful and thought-provoking Gaga pit that now adorns Shelby's field of Dreams.
At their culmination, the JK class and their families were invited to participate in several provocations related to their nature study. They then beautifully sang some of their favorite songs from the year.
Kindergarten students led a Kabbalat Shabbat service and performed songs on the violin with their families in attendance.
Grade 4 students chose a space-related topic to learn about and create inquiry questions to guide their research. Students culminate their learning with their families as they performed Vacation on Mars.
Grade 1 students held their Kabbalat Siddur, culminating the school year with their families present. Grade 2 mentors handed each student their own siddur uniquely decorated by their parents. This ceremony also culminated a year-long study and theme of Tikkun Olam.
Grade 6 students learned about ancient civilizations and then presented artifacts they made that showcase life in ancient Egypt and Hellenistic Judea.
The Leading in Hebrew initiative, a selective three-year plus program, chose to partner with CJDS, providing our teachers with support, tools, best practices, and conceptual and theoretical frameworks to bring to their efforts. HATC CEO Rabbi Andrew Ergas visited to commemorate our successful partnership.
2023 Purim was full of CJDS ruach (spirit!). Enjoy this video for a glimpse of the day.
Grade 2 students simulate an Ellis Island experience as they culminate their Immigration unit.
Campus Life Coordinator Molly Jaret designed a meaningful and innovative Hanukkah display in our "Sha'ar CJDS."
The Parent Committee pulled off another wonderful event, "Havdalah & Desserts."
Kol hakavod to Grade 1 students for showing the CJDS maintenance and security teams how appreciated they are.
Ms. J attended the JNFA General Assembly, serving on a panel addressing the important issue of security.
The always beautifully decorated CJDS entry hallway was dedicated as the "Sha'ar CJDS" and is a perfect spot to honor Rose Ann Cope z"l and her love and appreciation of Jewish education and the arts.
