Beresheet is the first Israeli spacecraft to land on the moon. The initiative was started by SpaceIL in response to the Google Lunar X Prize competition. Even though the Google competition ended without a winner, Israel continued on and a historic launch took off last night! Israel will only be the fourth country in the world to land on the moon (projected to be in mid-April).
SpaceIL’s vision is to inspire the next generation in Israel and around the world to think differently about science, engineering, technology, and math. We can say that it has already inspired Grade 4! Students have been using SpaceIL workbooks, learning the science behind the space launch, and learning Hebrew words to describe this launch.
