Stellar opportunities in middle school science classes this week as students of Grade 8 investigated lenses and telescopes. When experimented with different shaped lenses, students began to understand how light bends or refracts. Afterwards, students used those same lenses to build their own telescope.
Through school experiences, our students gain creative-thinking and critical-thinking skills and develop a passion for lifelong learning. At Chicago Jewish Day School, we focus our teaching around thinking, stressing knowledge over information. Our inquiry based curriculum encourages a curious, questioning and critical stance and develops a deepening understanding of important ideas. -CJDS Educational Philosophy
