A beloved CJDS tradition continues! Last week, Grade 1 students finished their Kevin Henkes unit with a "Bailey Goes Camping" campout on the days they were learning remotely. Throughout the unit, students sequenced each Kevin Henkes book they read by discussing the order of events in the stories. After reading "Bailey Goes Camping" they participated in their own camping trip by recreating the same activities Bailey did. They made their own tents, "swam" or "fished", reenacted bear adventures, and ate s'mores.
