Baby and Toddler Programs

CJDS is proud to partner with jBaby Chicago through JUF to bring engaging programs for young children and their families right to our community. Both LEAP into Shabbat and Big Stories for Little Mensches provide a wonderful opportunity for families with young children to connect, build relationships, and create Jewish experiences together.

LEAP into Shabbat

Learn Experience Appreciate Play

LEAP into Shabbat is our weekly Tot Shabbat program for children ages 0–3 and their caregivers. Through music, movement, stories, sensory play, and hands-on activities, families come together to explore the joy and traditions of Shabbat in a warm, welcoming environment. LEAP into Shabbat is a wonderful opportunity to learn, connect, and build community.

Big Stories, Little Mensches

Chicago Jewish Day School Storyteller-in-Residence and early childhood educator, Maxine Handelman, leads this engaging intergenerational experience that brings Jewish stories and classic books to life with playful drama, art experiences, music, and movement. Children and adults will find new friends through activities that invite them to play together. Adults will also experience sacred time with their two- or three-year-old as they engage in classic Jewish stories. Participants will fall in love with the stories of the Jewish people.

LEAP into Shabbat was a beautiful way for my baby and me to experience Jewish music together. We loved being part of such a warm and welcoming community!
