A Jewish holiday isn't just a holiday - it's learning about the origin and Biblical history while learning about how it's evolved to modern day celebrations in different communities.

Learning That Lasts

Meaningful learning happens when ideas connect. At CJDS, our integrated curriculum brings together numerous aspects of General and Judaic Studies, helping students make authentic connections across disciplines and deepen their understanding of both the world and their Jewish heritage. By exploring ideas from multiple perspectives, students strengthen critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity while applying their learning in lasting ways.

Learning Through Experience

Integrated learning becomes even more powerful when students experience concepts firsthand. In HaMitbach (Food Lab), students explore the science of fermentation by creating sourdough starter or preparing dabo while learning about the Ethiopian Jewish holiday of Sigd. In the Walder Innovation Lab, a lesson on electrical circuits becomes a collaborative Hanukkah design project. By seeing, creating, building, and discovering, students deepen their understanding and retain their learning in meaningful ways.

Learning Through Jewish Values

Jewish values are woven throughout every aspect of the CJDS experience. From General and Judaic Studies to the arts, athletics, innovation, and experiential learning, concepts such as tzedakah, mitzvot, and tikkun olam are integrated across the curriculum. Through classroom discussions, hands-on projects, leadership opportunities, and service learning, students discover that Jewish values are not simply taught but are lived every day.
