Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh Bazeh: All of Israel are responsible for each other - Talmud Shavuot 39a

On Wednesday afternoon our Middle School students gathered together in the beit midrash to Zoom with former CJDS parent Shayndi Raice. Shayndi is the Deputy Bureau Chief, Middle East and North Africa, of the Wall Street Journal. Our students spoke with her about WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich, who has been wrongfully detained in Russia for the past six months. Shayndi shared with the students that Evan's parents had to leave Russia in 1979 because they were being persecuted for being Jewish, but that Evan loved the country and the people of Russia. She also shared what the Wall Street Journal is doing to make sure Evan is not forgotten by the US government. She encouraged our students to send Evan Rosh Hashanah letters through the Jewish Federations to let him know we are thinking of him. Please join us in sending Evan letters for Rosh Hashanah by clicking here.
