Art Teacher Rachel Treister fills us in on what some of the lower grades have been working on in the past few weeks..

Students in Grades 1 and 2 created pomegranate art, which is symbolic of the Jewish holidays. They used oil pastel and watercolor paint to bring to life the ruddy but vibrant texture of the fruit.

Grade 4 students created grids on which they drew a tree in the shape of their choice. They used warm colors to reflect the moon's light and cool colors to depict the background.

Grade 5 students learned about op (optical) artists Bridget Riley and Victor Vaserely and tried their hand at creating their own project. Limited to rulers, pencils, and black sharpies, students completed their own designs demonstrating the appearance of movement.
