A Glimpse Into JK's Wonder-Filled Classroom!
  • Lower School
  • Reggio Emilia-Inspired Learning

"The art of research already exists in the hands of children acutely sensitive to the pleasure of surprise. The wonder of learning, of knowing, of understanding is one of the first, fundamental sensations each human being expects from experiences faced alone or with others." - Loris Malaguzzi (Founder of the Reggio Emilia Approach)

As Junior Kindergarten teachers welcomed their students to CJDS, many were captivated by the provocation of flowers and bubbles. The teachers—Moriah Bradley, Dena Glusman, Jenny Levine, and Carrie Rosen—worked alongside students to deepen their bubble study by making their own bubble solutions and exploring how color dye affected the bubbles. As we prepare for Rosh Hashanah, students compared the process of blowing bubbles to blowing the shofar. The curiosity and sense of wonder in these young minds shine brightly as they discover and explore the inviting materials in their classroom. Stay tuned as this study continues!
