Grade 7 students in Claudia Edwards' Humanities class completed their unit on the causes of the American Revolution with a Hamilton-inspired performance. Students chose a person, event, or document connected to the “founding era” to research. They then transformed what they learned into lyrics and a theatrical piece. The Declaration of Independence, the Boston Massacre, and the 1800 election became the subjects of an inspired song, rap, and scene. When a student brought in a Hamilton era cookbook, the class chose to make “Johnnycakes” as a culminating cooking activity!
