  • Jewish Campus Life
  • Lower School
  • Reggio Emilia-Inspired Learning
The Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms are vibrant, hands-on, and engaging learning environments, where students use all their senses to take in the wonder and lessons of Rosh HashanahStudents have been exploring the traditional symbols of apples representing the roundness of the full and beautiful year ahead, and honey representing the hopes for a sweet new year for all:
  • JK created Rosh Hashanah cards for their loved ones, culminating in a walk to the nearby mailbox to mail them home.
  • JK and K students had an apple tasting with different colored apples to compare the flavors and voted on their favorite.
  • K expanded their apple tasting experience to learning to graph as they each marked their tasting results
  • Connecting the bee with honey, they experimented with Bee-Bots during Technology with Moreh David–problem solving, simple coding, and sequencing
  • JK ended the week with a festive lunch that included apples, honey, and homemade applesauce that the students had made earlier in the week.
  • K baked honey and apple cakes and did another fun tasting
  • Rosh Hashanah artwork was created throughout the week, helping them connect to the holiday in creative ways
