They love music, they love math, so why not put them together? Kol hakavod to these Grade 8 mathematicians/performers in Morah Kate Burstein's class and their clever renditions of favorite songs about their recent math explorations. They recently completed a unit focused on understanding and solving systems of linear equations and inequalities. As a fun interlude between units, students chose favorite songs and rewrote the lyrics to relate to their recent math explorations. Students had a blast writing the songs and then performing for their peers, representing a wide genre of musical interests and incorporating different aspects of solving systems into their lyrics.
