Grade 8 Humanities Students Research Influential Figures in Women's Suffrage Movement
  • Humanities
  • Middle School

As part of an exploration led by Humanities Teacher Jennifer Saba into the history of the American women's suffrage movement, Grade 8 students drew from themes of the era and conducted research on influential figures such as Ida B. Wells, Eleanor Roosevelt, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Gloria Steinem, examining their roles in advancing American democracy. Additionally, other students explored contemporary issues related to women, such as women's representation in space, the gender wage gap in professional sports, and the portrayal of women in the entertainment industry. Working collaboratively in groups, students synthesized their findings creatively, presenting their research through mediums such as song parodies, children's books, magazines, and infographics.
