Grade 7 students took a field trip to City Hall on Wednesday! The visit brought to life aspects of how our government functions, which connects to their current study of the Constitution and the framework of the United States government. The class was invited by Rachel Arfa, the Commissioner of the City of Chicago Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD). CJDS welcomed Commissioner Arfa as a guest for Kabbalat Shabbat earlier this year, which initiated a relationship.

During their visit, students had the opportunity to explore the building, including a visit to the Press Conference Room of the Mayor’s Office and the Aldermanic Office. They were also invited to sit in on part of a Housing Committee meeting and observe the process of proposing new building developments. One of our students was even able to ask a question!
