Grade 3 students recently embarked on an out-of-this-world adventure during their alien invasion-themed math escape room! Students received an urgent mission from their teachers, Lauren Radner and Rachel Schmuckler: aliens had landed on Earth and locked the class in their spaceship. To escape, they had to solve a series of math challenges before the timer ran out. Working in small teams, students raced against the clock to decode alien messages, find hidden clues, and tackle multiplication and division puzzles. In addition to strengthening their math skills, students practiced essential social-emotional skills including collaboration, active listening, teamwork, and problem-solving as they worked together to complete each challenge. With teamwork, critical thinking, and impressive math skills, each group successfully “escaped” just in time! The excitement was contagious, and students left feeling like true math heroes.
