As part of their “Trip Around Israel” unit, Julia Grinberg's Grade 4 students explored one of Israel’s most beloved comfort foods - malawah! After watching the Israeli children’s show Levad Babait episode about malawah, students were excited to bring the experience to life in our kitchen.

They learned about the Yemenite origins of malawah and how it became a favorite Israeli treat enjoyed by families across the country. Students had a wonderful time getting creative with their own malawah and choosing toppings. A highlight was making pizlawach, a fun pizza-style version topped with sauce and cheese.

This hands-on activity gave students a delicious way to connect with Israeli culture, traditions, and everyday life. Most importantly, it brought lots of smiles, teamwork, and tasty memories!
