Learning Beyond the Classroom Through Chicago Field Trips
  • Lower School

It was a busy week of field trips in our lower school as we used the city as our classroom! Grade 3 deepened their study of Chicago history with a visit to the Chicago History Museum, where exhibits helped them connect classroom lessons to the people, events, and stories that shaped our city. They enjoyed exhibits like “Crossroads of Chicago,” where they saw the first-ever “L” car and stood on the floor where Michael Jordan once played. They also looked at dioramas depicting important moments in Chicago’s history.

Grade 4 visited the Adler Planetarium, connecting their study of space to the interactive displays and experiences that continue to spark curiosity about the universe. They discovered how scientists study the universe using telescopes and space missions, and even got to see models of spacecraft and learn about astronauts. One of the highlights of the trip was watching the movie "Destination Solar System," which took them on an amazing journey through the solar system.
