It turns out book clubs aren't just for adults! In the Grade 1 classrooms and breakout space, students have been meeting in groups to put their amazing decoding skills to work. In their clubs, they discuss their predictions, summarizations, characterizations and opinions about the book they are reading. Teachers Lily Kawer, Shayna Lopatin, and Rachel Warach circulate throughout the clubs to lend support to the conversations when needed.

As they practice their reading and comprehension skills, these young readers also work on the important skills of listening to one another, disagreeing respectfully, and asking for clarification.
