Kindergarten Students Learn About the Significance of Presidents' Day
  • Early Childhood

In preparation for Presidents' Day, Kindergarten students learned about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. During Morning Meeting they discussed the question "What makes a good leader?" Many of the students were interested in making their own American flags. They noted the differences between the current flag and the Colonial flag. Students furthered their interest in these time periods by learning about Harriet Tubman, the creation of the White House, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Kindergarten students even put on their chef's hats and made Hoe Cakes, a special pancake that was made during George Washington’s times.
