The following positions are currently available:
Middle School Learning Specialist
The Middle School Learning Specialist supports students in grades 6–8 with diverse learning needs, focusing on targeted instruction in math, literacy, and executive functioning. The goal of this role is to help students build the skills, strategies, and confidence they need for academic and personal success. The Learning Specialist works closely with students to help them understand their learning profiles and develop personalized approaches that promote independence and self-advocacy. This work is done in collaboration with teachers, families, and student support teams to create consistent, strength-based learning experiences.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field (preferred).
- Deep understanding of diverse teaching methodologies and evidence-based strategies for supporting students with learning differences.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing best practices for skill-based instruction in reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematics.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide academic support for 6–8 grade students with learning differences, both within the classroom and in small-group settings.
- Deliver instructional support that aligns with each student’s learning plan.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, advisors, and support staff to ensure cohesive instructional strategies and accommodations.
- Serve as the case manager for assigned students, overseeing the development, implementation, and regular updates of student service plans.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with school policies
- Conduct consistent progress monitoring to assess student growth and adjust support strategies as needed.
- Assist with data collection and documentation as part of the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process.
- Act as a liaison between home and school.
- Fulfill co-curricular responsibilities including lunch, recess, and other community duties

School Nurse - Part-Time/Job Share
Background:
Chicago Jewish Day School is a multi-denominational Jewish day school serving over 225 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade Eight. CJDS provides a standard of excellence in both Judaic and General Studies through an integrated, multi-sensory curriculum. CJDS is a leader in promoting togetherness, cooperation, and respect across all Jewish denominations.
Position Summary:
The School Nurse is the administrator for all healthcare provided to students and fosters the health and well-being of the whole child, aligning with the mission of Chicago Jewish Day School. The School Nurse serves as the manager of the health office, facilitating all health care activities, priorities, and compliance for the school. The School Nurse works in partnership with the health office team to strengthen and protect the health of the students. The School Nurse is uniquely qualified in health assessment, preventive health, referral procedures, compliance, and rapid response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and provide care for unwell students, including direct care, administering medications, and monitoring and following up on students’ health-related absences
- Provide general health guidance and support to students, families, and teachers, communicating regularly with parents about health incidents and treatment, chronic illness, and medication status; create action plans for students with asthma, severe food allergies, and medications
- Manage the health office and facilitate related activities and priorities
- Along with health office team, onboard new families and coordinate new student orientation/uploading health forms; review and correspond with families and physicians on health, dental, and vision compliance
- Serve as compliance lead and, in concert with the health office team, act as primary point of contact for ISBE requirements and reporting, including immunization, vision, and dental reports; coordinate annual vision and hearing screenings as required by the State of IL
- Facilitate the management and maintenance of accurate student health records and data in compliance with state regulations using the FACTS database
- Educate administration, faculty, and staff with the health office team on community health and safety issues (i.e. allergies, diabetes, asthma, head injuries, concussion protocols, OSHA, bloodborne pathogens, playground safety)
- Ensure Health Office is stocked with supplies
- Ensure routine checks/tests of AEDs on campus and update the compliance report
Qualities and Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Illinois
- Prior pediatric nursing experience; nursing experience in a school/camp setting preferred
- Knowledgeable of principles, practices, and current trends of professional nursing and the field of school health
- Up-to-date knowledge of state and local laws relating to health and social issues
- Ability to exercise sound, professional judgment in making decisions; ability to maintain self-control and composure in challenging situations
- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with students, parents, administrators, other school personnel, both orally and in writing
- Proficient in technology including online software housing student health information, MS Office, and Google Suite
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Genuine interest in and enthusiasm for children’s health and wellness (Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8)
- Capacity to be self-motivated and achieve goals with minimal supervision or direction
- Must be reliable, dependable, and prompt, and have a friendly, energetic demeanor
- Must be a team player
