Bruchim Ha'bayim (Welcome) from the Head of School
Welcome to Chicago Jewish Day School, warmly known as CJDS! As a multi-denominational Jewish day school, our school community is diverse and serves as a reflection of the entire Chicagoland Jewish community.
We believe in embracing the whole child, which can be observed immediately when you see our students working and learning in the workshop environment in our classes and see our talented faculty differentiating the educational experience to meet our students’ needs. We take pride in providing a program that works in partnership with our teachers, parents, and students. We have built an extraordinary learning environment that focuses on the development of the child academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, contributing to the education of students who are critical and analytical independent thinkers and lifelong learners.
Our values, which are expressed beautifully in the quotation that hangs prominently in our halls, “Educating our children in the richness of their past, the diversity of their present, and the possibilities for their future." has been at the forefront of our work at CJDS since our inception. They continue to infuse students, faculty and staff, and parents with shared vision and meaningful purpose. We have high expectations for both our students and our faculty and staff.
With your first steps on our campus, you will sense the inspiration and engagement of our students that have been the hallmark of CJDS since its inception.
Every member of the CJDS community contributes to the life of the school. I encourage you to visit our campus and meet some of the people who make Chicago Jewish Day School such a unique learning community. Community is a key word. When you choose Chicago Jewish Day School for the education of your child, you are also choosing a community for your family.
B’shalom,
Ms. J (Judy Finkelstein-Taff)
