Social Studies
Our social studies curriculum embraces the exploration of diverse cultures and incorporates the celebration of Jewish and Secular holidays and observances.

A primary goal for CJDS students is for each student to realize how he/she can make a difference in our world, repairing, building and contributing to a better and safer world. This is expressed, again in an integrated approach, beginning in Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten where students learn about me, my name, my family and my community and continuing through the elementary grades learning about our city, our state, our world and the diversity of cultures and our environment.

Our commitment as a school to tikkun olam (repairing the world) and community service is expressed through social action and learning from sacred texts (Torah, Pirke Avot /Ethics of our Ancestors) as well as modern literature and examples of heroism.
